Bas Heats Up the Summer with Last Winter Tour

Fans may have heard of J. Cole’s first artist Bas appearing on Cole’s Born Sinner album on the “New York Times” track which also features 50 Cent. Bas is the first signee to Cole’s record label Dreamville Records and has received rave reviews for his latest single with Cole, “My Ni**a Just Made Bail.”

The Jamaica Queens rapper has been building his way through the music industry for the past few years after releasing his first mixtape Quarter Water Raised Me Vol. I in 2011 and Vol. II in 2013. In that same year, he also opened up for Cole on his worldwide What Dreams May Come Tour. He received more exposure from touring and gained more fans, which he refers to as ‘Fiends.’ At the end of April this year, Bas released his debut album Last Winter, which features songs with the likes of J. Cole and Mack Wilds. To celebrate his new album release, he embarked on his 10-city nationwide tour and his second stop was at the Brick & Mortar Music Hall in San Francisco.

Fans started lining up outside the hall before doors opened, many of them wore the established Fiends paraphernalia to show Bas more support. As fans waited for the show to get underway, DJ Criddy spun some classic records to get the crowd pumped. The first opening act was Oakland artist, K.E.L.L.S. who was then followed by fellow local artist, 88 also known as Jordon Norris.

Bas approached the stage and all the fiends in the building ran closer to the artist as he performed his first song, “Ni**a on the Dos Equis, The Most Interesting Man in the World.” The night consisted of an energetic crowd rapping along as Bas performed a number of songs from his mixtape days and his Last Winter album. He told a brief story about how he came up with the album title and how honored he felt to headline his own tour. He had the building jumping as he performed “We Made It” from his most recent Two Weeks Notice EP. As he performed his new single featuring J. Cole, he asked the audience, “Who’s going to do Cole’s verse? If you know it, I’ll bring you up on stage!” He brought up a fiend to rap to Cole’s verse and the girl didn’t know all the words, however she was excited to be on stage alongside Bas. Although she didn’t know Cole’s verse, that didn’t stop the audience for rapping along to the words themselves. He thanked the Bay Area for rocking with him before he performed his last song of the night, “Your World.” At the end of his set, he jumped off the stage to sign autographs and take pictures with his fiends.

Bas’ melody is an artist who is sure to make his mark in the hip-hop industry and if he comes to your town, make sure to show the fiend some love. The Last Winter album is available on iTunes now. The schedule for the remainder of his tour is as follows:
